I have been re-thinking the amount of stress that I take in daily.
It's not good for my health.
I am involved in so many different collectives and organizations.
I work full time at a domestic violence shelter.
I coordinated all of the workshops for a three day queer youth arts festival called bend-it.
I am one of three people who put on the really free market, monthly.
I am involved with the Seattle DIY collective.
I volunteer at Side Car for Pigs Peace once a week.
I have been going to weekly groups that talk about consent, sexual violence, and abuse in the punk/radical scene.
I am in a band.
Being in seattle is like being a fat kid in a candy store. its delicious, but not good for you.

Kaelen re-dose prom, 6 years later.

My house mate Eli got a call from the prom committee at an all-girl Catholic school called Holy Names. This was ripe for comedy and the rest of the house (myself included) gave him crap in the days leading up to the prom. Eli's DJ names is Jewbacca and (much to his horror) he gets hit on by teenaged girls all the time. He had asked a friend to help him DJ the event, I told him in passing that if he needed anyone else for some reason, that he should give me a call.
Me, Rachel and my house mate Benji were at Guitar Center the evening of the prom when Eli called Benj's phone. Benji handed it to me as I was playing a sweet digital drum set.
Eli: "Hey, way to not pick up yr phone. Can you still help me tonight?"
Me: "I'll be there by 9pm."
Eli: "Are you gunna wear a dress and look all formal?"
Me: "Hells yes I am!"
I put on the dress I bought for my dads wedding (before I knew I would be in it) and walked downtown to the Fairview. When I came through the archways to where the table of teachers and administrators were sitting, they all looked me up and down.
A woman in a flower pastel skirt and a pink blazer turned to me, "Oh, look what youve done to yourself!"
What do you say to that?
What did I say to that?
"Where's the DJ?"
We had a blast. I drank 4 sprites and ate tons of fruit and veggies from the buffet table.
Apparently every time I left to use the restroom young girls would circle Eli, baby vulchers.
Queen was bood, he forgot to bring Justice, someone requested the Vanga Boys and everyone wanted to hear "superman that ho" and "lollipop".

Sunny day!
The passed week has been relatively sunny. Me and dutchess went for a walk in the park last Friday. Everyone was out, walking their dogs, laying on the grass and napping with book covering their faces. We saw an anciant pug that looked like a small hill of wrinkles and fur. It had one eye and when it saw us, it barked and then gave up, laying back down in the sun.
Me and dutchess agreed that that was her pug doglganger.
I have been slowly moving into my new apartment. The man who was in the room before me had a family emergency and left early. Its been nice to be able to take one load over a day. This way I wont be stressed in the final days of the move. I have, at the most, two more loads and then I'm all done. My new room doesnt have a closet, so Ill have to check out craigslist to find a stand alone closet. (cant have wrinkly clothes at work)
I have been thinking about applying for a position at another agency. Its not that I'm not happy at the job I have now, its just that this other job would pay me more and has less hours. It is also closer to where I live. This way I could take three day weekends to visit family and spend less on gas. For now I just need to work on getting my car registered and my WA liscence.

my weekend
So then the next day I went and volunteered at a Sidecar For Pigs Peace book signing. The author Frances Moore Lappe was supposed to come and sign copies of her very famous books on veganism. We waited for three hours and she didnt show. The sun was shining and it was 70 degrees (its been raining and 50 degrees) and we were all stuck inside waiting for an author who didnt even show up. That was frustrating.
We screened the movie (which was free) and sold snacks to raise money for Okay?Okay! (see past blog for link and info)

Work Blogging!
Im at work right now listening to classical music. We usually have it on the oldies station, but this seems so nice for the sunny morning we're about to have.
Here is a link to a project that I am helping with. It's called, "okay? okay!" and I'm in charge of getting the workshops put together.
Home Alive and CARA are both organizations that seem really intretsted in what were trying to do. The workshops still arent set in stone and its coming really close to May. Im getting nervous. :/
